Jesus in Lonely Places

“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”

Luke 5:16

I remember several years ago being struck by an intense loneliness. My wife and I had moved to a city to plant a church where we didn’t know anyone except two college students. The church grew and so did our friendships and yet even within those relationships the depth of that connection was only about 1 years old!

One day at the altar of my church I prayed to the Lord, “God! I feel so alone! Why did you send me to this city?!” Almost immediately I heard Jesus respond, “I know what it is like to be alone. My Father sent me to earth alone.”

Nothing changed that day except my perspective. I realized that I was walking in a path laid out for me by Jesus Christ Himself and that His strength was being supplied to me for everything that I needed. You know what? He is supplying everything that you need too! I pray that the Lord would shower fresh love, grace and peace upon you for every situation and circumstance and that you would experience the nearness of Christ today!
